When did France start producing glass chandeliers?

France began producing glass chandeliers during the 19th century. The most famous and successful maker of French chandeliers' was Baccarat, who made lead glass chandeliers in the 1820s and later combined glass with gilt bronze or 'ormolu' as it is known.

Still made today, Baccarat chandeliers remain extremely popular the world over.
